Chapter 1: Introduction to AWS
Introduction
It is the on-demand delivery of computing resources through a cloud services platform with pay-as-you-go pricing.
Types of Cloud Computing
• IAAS (infrastructure as a Service)
• PAAS (Platform as a Service)
• SAAS (Software as a Service)
Advantages of Cloud Computing
• Trade capital expense for variable expense
• Benefit from massive economies of scale
• Stop guessing capacity
• Increase speed and agility
• Stop spending money on running and maintaining data centers
• Go global in minutes
Cloud Computing Deployment Models
• Cloud (Model in which a third-party provider makes compute resources available to the public over the internet)
• Hybrid (Model that includes a combination of on-premises, private cloud, and third-party public cloud)
• On-Premises (a model that uses the same legacy IT infrastructure and runs cloud resources within its own data center)
