Chapter 01: Introduction to Cloud Computing
What is Cloud Computing?
Cloud Computing is the practice of using a network of remote servers hosted on the internet to store, manage and process data rather than using a local server or personal computer. It is the on-demand delivery of computing resources through a cloud service platform with pay-as-you-go pricing.
Advantages of Cloud Computing
1. Trade capital expense for variable expense
Pay only for the resources consumed instead of heavily investing in datacenters and servers before knowing your requirements.
2. Benefit from massive economies of scale
Achieve lower variable costs than you can get on your own. Cloud computing providers, such as Amazon, build their own data centers and achieve higher economies of scale that results in lower prices.
