Chapter 1: Network Design Methodologies
Business Driven Design
Network planning and design is an iterative process of topological design, network sizing, and capacity planning to ensure that a new network or service meets the end user’s business needs.
Business-driven network design is the method of developing solutions in order to directly meet the requirements of businesses. This is achieved through a model-driven approach, which starts off with the business strategy, demands, and objectives. All these are then transformed into an IT solution. Due to the alignment of the business layer and the technology layer, it is possible to propagate business changes automatically to the technology systems that lead to increased flexibility and shorter turnaround times when changing the business and adapting the technology systems.
